First Contact 2161 Further Investigations
A zephyr of a breeze lightly swirled the leaves of the large tree that rose above the couple. Jesymi was almost salivating as Darcy unpacked all the food that he had brought along for their picnic. What was most enticing, at first, to her eyes were the fresh fruits that he had in sealed plastic boxes. She could only recognise one, a vibrantly red large berry she knew as Strawberries. She had never tried them. “Where did you get all this fruit Darcy?” “We get a daily shipment from Earth with a lot of fresh supplies. Now that we have an embassy here we are able to ferry in whatever we need via the relay network and it doesn’t take more than a day or so to get here. We can bypass a lot of the red tape and bureaucracy which means our supplies do not have to linger in customs inspections.” “Hmm…it is the same for us as well. It is good to know that you are being afforded the same privileges as the rest of the established races.” She pointed to the two boxes next to the Strawberries. “What

The walk back to the embassy was surreal. Jesymi was stilling feeling both the effects of lunch plus a few cups of plum wine and more so, the heady, exhilarating rush of meeting someone that she really connected with and who liked her as much as she liked them. It was completely uplifting. She walked slowly, thinking about every detail that she had experienced over the past four hours. The way in which Darcy was so polite, curious, and kind with her. She had so much wanted to touch his light brown hair as she sat next to him during lunch, wanting to feel the tactile sensation that she had read about from Asari who had been with human partners already. It was one of the many aspects of humanity that Asari were very much enamoured with. Some Asari poets had already penned verse to the beauty of human hair and a few Mega Music Stars had written songs about the touch of a human lovers hair. She meandered her way back into her office and was somewhat startled when Laylia called out to her

Jesymi stood there not knowing what to say next. She was so relieved when Darcy took the initiative and broke the silence. “Umm…I wonder if you could help me perhaps Jesymi?” Her eyes widened slightly in slight surprise at his request. “What do you require help with?” She was genuinely curious. “Well…as you probably know, I have only recently arrived on the station. I have been given quarters here however it is barely furnished, well just enough to be livable but definitely not comfortable. I wonder if you could tell me where I might acquire more furnishings for my apartment please?” Jesymi was amazed. He gets a whole apartment? She had to share her apartment with her four co-workers. They all got on well however there was hardly a time when they had time alone to themselves. “You need my help in buying furniture?” This was indeed curious yet extremely intriguing and something very new. No one had ever asked her to help them pick out furniture before. He nodded and smiled at her
Data flicked across the screen in a never ended torrent. Jesymi Waevel was feeling bored as she sat at her workstation in the small office. Her place of employment was a part of a collection of small consulates for the individual Asari Republics of Thessia. All of which came under the purview and responsibility of main Asari embassy and administration based in the Citadel. Jesymi had no glorious purpose, she was just a mid-level officer worker. She had been doing this dead end job for the best part of a decade. The life of being a commando or being in the Asari military was something she was never interested in although she had completed a 20 year term as a civilian Law Enforcement Officer back on Thessia for her home republic of Serrice. Yet that was not a satisfactory vocation for her as she wasn’t an aggressive Asari and working in law enforcement meant that often you would have to use force and violence made her feel queasy. She glanced around her office and looked to see what

Forbidden fruit they say is the sweetest, I wouldnt know,
Ive never tasted any other.
The grass on the other sides always greener, I wouldnt know,
Ive never grown my own.
You ask me if Ill love you forever, I couldnt say,
I never understood tomorrow,oh no oh no
You asked me if Ive ever felt this way ever, I couldnt say,
I dont remember yesterday.
But when I went away and left you all alone how could I know,
Thered never be another summer?
And when you went away and left me on my own, why didnt you say then,
what youre saying now, therell never be a chance
How could I have known when I met you,
that you'd always be on my mind?
If I'd know I could never forget you,
I'd have turn and run away the very first time,
because, I didn't need it,
no I didn't need it,
I didn't need it,
didn't need to fall in love.
It happened so fast I just couldn't stop myself,
from falling into your arms,
but I guess there will be a price to pay,
for falling, oh for falling for for your charms,
because I didn't mean it,
and I didn't need it,
no I didn't mean it,
'cause I didn't need it,
didn't mean to fall in love with you now lady,
no I didn't mean to fall in love
In a warm and cosy space,
the glitter from your face is falling all around me,
And when Im broken and disgraced,
I long for your embrace,
As the winter winds confound me.
Together, together, our light will shine so bright when were together, whatever,
Well take our place to stand and face and I,
Wont worry about what could have been,
cause what could have been survives,
In what we have today.
In the temple of your warmth,
I take shelter from the storm, of all my pain and sadness,
At the alter of your smile,
I find sanctuary awhile,
from the whirling madness.
Together, together, our light will
The April fools fiasco is behind us but the rancour, bitterness and general unpleasantness that was leveled against those who spoke up against the prank still lingers.
While many of the community enjoyed the prank, quite a few didn't and that begs the question: if a person finds a prank unfunny or upsetting, is the prank universally amusing? All humour is subjective and thus what person A finds hysterical, person B yawns in boredom and person C is offended. The next question is this: does person C have the right to voice their displeasure at what they see as non lulzworthy? And does it make sense to stir up this level of conflict within a co
Once again we have the unfunny so called called joke of having avatars replaced with what the admins think as hugely funny.
Just a quick look at the forums and the fact that this has been done before, it shows that quite a lot of people don't find it funny.
DA Admin has pulled this prank before and it wasn't funny then nor is it now. In fact it shows how pathetic the admin staff really are as they can't find something that is original for an April fools prank but have to recycle past unfunny gags.
This really makes me wonder if it is worth renewing my subscription for another year?
